This exhibition is taking place on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen speaking people with art works created on the lands of the Esquimalt, Songhees and W̱SÁNEĆ nations. It is important for us as artists to respect the lands in which our practice is possible and take on the responsibility of decolonizing our environment and practices.

Looking into the gallery, something stares back at you; a confrontation with the very nature of looking. The Observed is a collection of photographic works devised to examine the acts of watching, being watched, quiet observation and contemplation with subject matter branching out to include the body, environment, spaces, form and human experience. The exhibition invites you to insert yourself into the ever changing spaces around you and question your own role in looking at them. Alluring, present and enigmatic, we encourage you to contemplate the spaces and subjects in The Observed.
